Switching to Yeztugo is simple. Typically, the switch can be timed so you stay protected against HIV throughout. Don’t stop your current PrEP on your own. Your Freddie clinician will walk you through switching.
| Your current PrEP | What happens |
|---|---|
| Truvada or Descovy daily pills | Keep taking your pills. Take your last pill the day of your first Yeztugo injection. |
| Apretude injections | Keep getting Apretude. Your first Yeztugo injection is timed for when your next Apretude injection is due, or a few days before. |
Before you switch
- A negative HIV test.
- Hepatitis B. Truvada and Descovy treat hepatitis B, but Yeztugo doesn’t. Chronic (ongoing) hepatitis B doesn’t rule out Yeztugo, but pills may be the better option.
When are you protected after the switch?
Research on switching is limited, so your timing may differ. To see when you’ll be protected, see When does Yeztugo start working?
